Did you know that Cohasset was originally part of Hingham?
|
Cohasset was settled by Captain John Smith in 1614. Cohasset began as a farming town but by the 1800's
Cohasset turned to the sea. It once had several shipyards and many fishing and merchant vessels. After the fishing industry
waned in the early 1900's wealthy people began buying summer "cottages" along the water because of Cohasset's beautiful shoreline.
Today, Cohasset is still a small town with much character. Its central village lies around a spacious common with a small
pond and along Cohasset harbor there are facilities for dining and sailing.
